Garbage and Recycling
Garbage and recycling collection services in the Township of Georgian Bay are provided by the District Municipality of Muskoka.
Services
The District provides our residents with a number of waste services, including:
- Garbage
- Green Bin
- Hazardous and Electronic Waste
- Landfill and Transfer Sites
- Leaf and Yard Waste
- Recycling

Large Item Pick-Up
Do you have bulky items that won’t fit in your regular garbage?
The Township of Georgian Bay is offering Large Item Pick-Up Days as well as Barge Your Large Items to help you dispose of oversized waste responsibly. This service is available to permanent and seasonal residents with water access only.
Large Item Collection Dates:
Saturday, August 15, 2026

Barge Your Large Item Collection Date:
Tuesday, August 18, 2026
Acceptable Items:

Appliances (stoves, dishwashers, washers, driers, fridges, freezers, air conditioners)

Furniture (couches, chairs, tables, shelves, portable cabinets, portable bookshelves, beds

and dressers)

Metal Items (barbeques, hot water heaters, bicycles, etc. – max length – 3 m (10’))

Mattresses

Outdoor items (chairs, picnic tables, umbrellas, lawnmowers (oil and fuel removed)

Freon Units will be accepted with a payment of $30. Cash & Credit Payment on day of event.

Boats of any type

Propane camping cylinders/tanks
