The Township of Georgian Bay may put a property up for tax sale to recover unpaid property taxes that have been in arrears for at least two years, in accordance with the Ontario Municipal Act. Tax Sales are advertised in the Ontario Gazette and on the community boards at the Township Administration Centre and the Community Services Building (CSB).
NOTICE OF POSTPONEMENT OF TAX SALE
Please be advised that the tax sale by public tender scheduled to close at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, has been postponed.
The Township will not proceed with the opening or consideration of tenders at the scheduled closing time.
The property will be readvertised in accordance with the applicable statutory requirements, and a new tender closing date will be established.
Further information regarding the revised tax sale process and new tender closing date will be posted on the Township of Georgian Bay’s website when available.
Any tenders received in connection with the postponed tax sale will be dealt with in accordance with the applicable requirements of Ontario Regulation 181/03, Municipal Tax Sales Rules.

Purchasing a tax sale property
To bid on a tax sale property, complete the following steps:
- Purchase a tender package from the Township Administration Centre.
- Determine your bid amount, which must be equal to or greater than the advertised minimum tender amount.
- The advertised minimum tender amount includes outstanding taxes and associated costs up to the date of advertisement.
- Insert your completed Form 7 'Tender to Purchase' and bid deposit (a certified cheque, money order or bank draft of at least 20% of your bid amount) in a sealed envelope labelled with the required information.
- Submit your tender before the tax sale closing date and time in person, by courier or mail to:
