NEW Refresh MacTier Advisory Committee
Council has approved the formation of a new committee to focus on the objectives of Refresh MacTier. The current MacTier Arena Advisory Committee (MAAC) will evolve to become the Refresh MacTier Advisory Committee (RMAC), per the recommendations that came from the consultant and community during the Refresh MacTier consultation project. The Committee Terms of Reference Policy was adopted by Council to reflect this change.
RMAC's mandate will be to provide community co-leadership in the planning, evaluation, and implementation of the Refresh MacTier initiatives. The Committee will review, investigate, and make recommendations to Council on community needs regarding the MacTier Memorial Arena and community centre, the community-identified priority projects from Refresh MacTier, and will continue to engage with the community to ensure all voices are included in planning and decision-making.
Recruitment is now underway for the Committee, which will consist of five-to-seven citizen members and two Council members. Citizen members are to be residents or landowners who represent a cross-section of the community of MacTier; this Committee may include appointments for non-residents members.

Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body, operating independently from Council, and must comply with the rules of procedure as prescribed by the Planning Act and several regulations thereunder.
The Committee of Adjustment meets monthly, on the Friday of the week of Council meetings.
MacTier Arena Advisory Committee
The MacTier Arena Advisory Committee (MAAC) has a mandate to explore options to see MacTier Arena be sustainable from a cost recovery, environmental, and community hub. Municipal arenas often operate at a deficit in order to offer subsidized programming to its community members, however the MacTier arena operates at a loss that may not be sustainable for the future. The MAAC is to generate ideas to attract new user groups or events to the MacTier Arena, offer fresh concepts for advertising or cost-recovery.
The MAAC meets bi-monthly on the last Monday of the month, opposite the SCAG.
Property Standards Appeal Committee
The Property Standards By-law prescribes property standards for the maintenance and occupancy of all property within the municipality, and includes provision for the establishment of the Property Standards Appeal Committee. The Committee has the following powers under the Ontario Building Code:
- Confirm the Order or Orders served by the Municipality;
- Quash the Order; and
- Amend the Order or extend the deadline for compliance.
The Property Standards Appeal Committee meets as required.
Sustainable Communities Advisory Group
The Sustainable Communities Advisory Group (SCAG) will provide advice and recommendations to Council or Committee of the Whole regarding projects that are related to sustainability in all areas of the Township. This commitment is not limited to work in the three urban cores of Honey Harbour, MacTier, and Port Severn, and will also include inland lakes, community groups, and cottage associations.
The role of the SCAG is to advise Council or matters of Sustainability as it relates to the environment, economy, heritage, culture, and communities within the Township of Georgian Bay.
The SCAG meets bi-monthly on the last Monday of the month, opposite the MAAC.
