Refreshing New Look for the Township of Georgian Bay

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Township of Georgian Bay Launches Refreshed Logo

and New Website

TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BAY, ON – March 2, 2026 – The Township of Georgian Bay is proud to unveil a refreshed municipal logo and newly redesigned website, marking an exciting step forward in how we present and connect with our community.

The logo update and website redevelopment were completed simultaneously as part of a coordinated effort to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. By aligning both projects, staff were able to streamline design work, leverage grant opportunities, and minimize duplication of resources. Managing multiple large-scale initiatives at once required focus and collaboration, and Council recognizes the significant effort made by staff to deliver both projects thoughtfully and responsibly.

Website Redesign

The website redesign was necessary due to changes in functionality from the Township’s existing website vendor. The previous platform style was being phased out by the vendor, making the older version obsolete. As a result, the Township needed to transition to an updated structure.

After careful review, continuing with the current provider and upgrading to the new platform was determined to be the most cost-effective solution. This approach avoided the significantly higher costs and extended timelines associated with issuing a full Request for Proposal (RFP) and transitioning to an entirely new website provider. By upgrading within the existing system, the Township ensured continuity of service managing public funds responsibly.

Your Input Matters

Throughout the process, community input played a key role. Residents shared comments, questions, and ideas that helped shape the outcome. The Township thanks everyone who took the time to provide feedback. Your voices were heard, and your perspectives informed the refinement of both the brand and the website experience.

Mayor Peter Koetsier commented,

“This refresh represents more than a new look. It reflects our commitment to modern service delivery, accessibility, and responsible financial management. By coordinating the website and branding updates, staff demonstrated strong leadership and careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars. We are proud of the result and grateful to our community for their thoughtful input throughout the process.”

The Township is committed to implementing the refreshed logo in a fiscally responsible manner. The new branding will be introduced on a need-by-need basis. Existing usable materials will not be discarded. Items such as signage, banners, printed materials, and other branded assets will transition to the new logo only when they require replacement or refreshing.

This phased approach will ensure responsible stewardship of public funds while gradually modernizing the Township’s visual identity.

Staff are grateful for the contribution towards the refreshed branding from Explorer’s Edge Community Partnership Fund.

Understanding the Township’s New Colours

The updated brand maintains a strong connection to Georgian Bay’s natural landscape and community spirit. Maintaining the base of the older style logo and update to the colours simplifies it for use and for understanding of what it means to the community:

-      GB Blue: Represents the waters of Georgian Bay, stability, trust, and dependable municipal services.

-      GB Highlight Blue: A lighter tone that reflects openness, clarity, and transparency in communication.

-      GB Sunshine: Symbolizes warmth, optimism, and the welcoming nature of our community.

-      GB Greenery: Reflects our forests, environmental stewardship, and commitment to sustainable growth.

The Township’s new website offers improved navigation, clearer information, and enhanced service access for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Importantly the redesign of both the logo and the website ensured compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Becoming AODA compliant is a legal requirement for municipalities, and this updated ensures the Township meets current accessibility standards so that all users can access information and services equitably.

This refresh represents more than a visual update. It reflects the Township’s commitment to service excellence, transparency, and community connection.

Residents are encouraged to explore the new website and familiarize themselves with the updated look. As always, the Township welcomes feedback as we continue to refine and enhance our services.
