    Township of Georgian Bay Seeks Resident Feedback for MacTier Memorial Community Centre and Arena

    Georgian Bay, ON – Mayor Peter Koetsier and the Township of Georgian Bay are inviting residents to participate in an important survey about activities and programming at the MacTier Memorial Community Centre and Arena. The MacTier Arena Advisory Committee (MAAC) is exploring opportunities to expand the facility’s hours and services to better meet the needs of the community.

    Temporary Zoning By-Law Amendment (Rock Crushing)

    Township of Georgian Bay - At the end of August, the Superior Court of Justice (Ontario Divisional Court) issued a decision to deny the Township’s request to appeal the Ontario Land Tribunal’s (OLT) decision to permit the temporary zoning by-law. Therefore, the Township is compelled by the Ontario Land Tribunal to issue a zoning by-law amendment to OBD Developments Inc.

    $10,000 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government Gives Library a Technology Boost

    Honey Harbour, ON – On Saturday, MPP Graydon Smith was at the Georgian Bay Public Library to hear more about the $10,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant it received earlier this year from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant, applied for through the Township, was used to purchase a set of laptops for digital literacy training and organizational flexibility.

    Township of Georgian Bay confirms position regarding appeal to OLT Decision 23-000741

    Georgian Bay, Ontario OBD Developments Inc, known as Oak Bay Developments, were successful in their appeal at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT-23-000741) with respect to rock crushing at their Summerside development, in Port Severn through a decision dated the 15th of April, 2024.

    As a reminder, in 2022 Oak Bay Developments submitted a Zoning By-law amendment application (Z22-12) to temporarily permit rock.

    Georgian Bay, Ontario – The Township of Georgian Bay wishes to provide a historic timeline regarding Oak Bay Development (“OBD”).

    In 2022, OBD Developments applied for a zoning by-law amendment (Z22-12); an initial public meeting was held on February 14, 2023.

    Port Severn, Township of Georgian Bay, Ontario – Residents of Honey Harbour have identified an interest in having six (6) pickleball courts constructed at Honey Harbour Park with an estimated cost of $300,000.

    Township residents have committed to fund a minimum of 50% of the project and have deposited $100,000 with the Township in trust to date.
