Update to Temporary Closure of MacTier Union Cemetery

We would like to thank everyone for their patience, comments, and concerns regarding the temporary closure of the MacTier Union Cemetery.

The work will commence Wednesday, June 10, 2026 (weather permitting), the contractor informs us it will be completed by end of day. Following completion, Township staff will conduct a thorough inspection of the site to ensure the area is safe and ready for public access.

At this time, we anticipate reopening the cemetery no later than the end of day on June 11, 2026, subject to the final safety inspection.

We understand the importance of access to the cemetery for families and visitors and appreciate your understanding throughout this process. While the Township has been working within the timeline of a third-party contractor, we are pleased to share that they have been very cooperative and agreeable in helping move the project forward.
