Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body, operating independently from Council, and must comply with the rules of procedure as prescribed by the Planning Act and several regulations thereunder.

The Committee of Adjustment meets monthly, on the Friday of the week of Council meetings.

MacTier Arena Advisory Committee

The MacTier Arena Advisory Committee (MAAC) has a mandate to explore options to see MacTier Arena be sustainable from a cost recovery, environmental, and community hub. Municipal arenas often operate at a deficit in order to offer subsidized programming to its community members, however the MacTier arena operates at a loss that may not be sustainable for the future. The MAAC is to generate ideas to attract new user groups or events to the MacTier Arena, offer fresh concepts for advertising or cost-recovery.

The MAAC meets bi-monthly on the last Monday of the month, opposite the SCAG.

Property Standards Appeal Committee

The Property Standards By-law prescribes property standards for the maintenance and occupancy of all property within the municipality, and includes provision for the establishment of the Property Standards Appeal Committee. The Committee has the following powers under the Ontario Building Code:

  • Confirm the Order or Orders served by the Municipality;
  • Quash the Order; and
  • Amend the Order or extend the deadline for compliance.

The Property Standards Appeal Committee meets as required.

This commitment is not limited to work in the three urban cores of Honey Harbour, MacTier, and Port Severn, and will also include inland lakes, community groups, and cottage associations.

The role of the SCAG is to advise Council or matters of Sustainability as it relates to the environment, economy, heritage, culture, and communities within the Township of Georgian Bay.
