Committee Applications

The Township of Georgian is seeking interested community members to apply to volunteer positions on various committees for the 2022-2026 term. Applications are due by end of day on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Applicants must be able to attend daytime meetings which are in-person at 99 Lone Pine Road, Port Severn, and sometimes by electronic method such as Zoom. 

Applications can be submitted the following ways:

Applications are reviewed by Council and appointed by by-law, all applicants will be notified by the Clerks Office. 

The Committee Terms of Reference outlines mandate, composition, and expectations of committee members for all committees, which may be amended from time to time by Council. It is recommended applicants review this prior to applying. 

The establishment of committees, appointment of members, meeting schedules, and their functions may be amended from time to time. 

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body, operating independently from Council, and must comply with the rules of procedure as prescribed in the Planning Act and several regulations thereunder. 

Members receive a remuneration of $150 per meeting attended. 

Meetings take place the Friday following Council, approximately the second week of the month. 

Honey Harbour Community Advisory Group

Honey Harbour Community Advisory Group Application Form 

The Honey Harbour Community Advisory Group will provide advice and recommendations to Council regarding Honey Harbour project. The Honey Harbour CAG members will provide advice to Council on including but not limited to the implementation of the Honey Harbour Waterfront Plan and the creation of a Community Hub in the Honey Harbour Public School.

Members do not receive remuneration.  

Meetings take place bi-monthly on the first Thursday of the month. 

Library Board

The Georgian Bay Public Library is a three branch system with locations in Honey Harbour, MacTier, and Port Severn. Public library boards are legal corporations that govern the libraries in accordance with the Public Libraries Act. It is the duty of the library board to provide comprehensive, effective, and efficient public library service that reflects the community's needs through strategic planning and direction and coordination with the Township. As a board member you become a direct link to the community, the Board listens to residents and develops responsive strategies that support their needs and the development of library services. Members do not receive remuneration. 

Meetings take place monthly on the second Monday of the month in the evenings. 

Planning Advisory Committee

To work with staff, consultants and community stakeholders to develop and recommend new or revised land-use planning policies, by-laws, and regulations when requested to do so by Council, Planning Council, or the Committee of the Whole. The Planning Advisory Committee is also to provide support to the Planning Department during the creation/modification of policies, regulations, and by-laws as well as during the establishment/revision to procedures and approaches to public consultation, education, and information sharing. 

Members do not receive remuneration. 

Meetings take place monthly on the last Friday of the month.  

Property Standards Appeal Committee

The Property Standards By-law prescribes property standards for the maintenance and occupancy of all property within the municipality, and includes provision for the establishment of the Property Standards Appeal Committee. The Committee has the following powers under the Ontario Building Code: 

  • Confirm the Order or Orders served by the Municipality; 
  • Quash the Order; and
  • Amend the Order or extend the deadline for compliance. 

Members receive a remuneration of $100 per meeting attended. 

Meetings take place as required; scheduled upon receipt of an appeal from an Order issued pursuant to the Property Standards By-law.
