The Township of Georgian Bay has by-laws in place to protect the natural environment, increase public safety, and maintain an orderly appearance throughout the municipality.
By-laws are created and established under the Municipal Act, and delegate powers to a Municipality to regulate certain matters that may have an affect on the public.
A Municipal Law Enforcement Officers role is to provide the Municipality with education on by-laws, investigate complaints, and enforce by-laws within the Township. Officers rely on information provided by a complainant to carry out their duties.
Commonly Requested By-Laws can be found on this page.
Report a Concern
Reporting a concern can result in the Township taking multiple steps to enforce applicable by-laws and regulations. If you have a concern regarding an individual or property it is always best to try and resolve the matter without the use of the Township’s enforcement officers, if safe to do so.
If your efforts to resolve the matter are not successful, please report your concern using our online form.
Following your complaint, Township staff may contact you to obtain more information if required. Please note that your information will remain confidential unless the matter is brought before a provincial offences court. At that time, you may be asked to provide a statement or attend court.
To report an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
For complaints related to public nuisance, property damage, vandalism, drugs or alcohol, traffic, and criminal activities, please call the Ontario Provincial Police nonemergency line (O.P.P.) at 1-888-310-1122.
