Asset Management Plan

Township of Georgian Bay Asset Management Plan 2020

The Asset Management Plan was presented to Council on February 14, 2022.

The Township of Georgian Bay's $57 million in infrastructure assets support our community’s economic, social and environmental well-being and growth.

The Township’s infrastructure assets include:

  • Roads, sidewalks, streetlights, parking
  • Recreational facilities and buildings
  • Storm sewer infrastructure such as pipes, culverts
  • Parks and natural capital
  • Fleet vehicles (e.g. fire trucks, snow plows and buses)
  • Equipment such as playgrounds, lawn mowers, electric vehicle charging stations, and firefighting equipment
  • Information technology services.

Comprehensive asset management planning helps us to understand the overall health and needs of these valuable assets and make informed decisions for the future.

Our approach to asset management minimizes risk, is sustainable and makes financial sense for our residents and business owners.

Business Retention & Expansion Plans

The Province of Ontario helps rural communities with Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) programs. The program helps:

  • Support local businesses so they can grow, create jobs and stay in our community
  • Develop an action plan to foster business development, investment and job creation
  • Collect business and market data to support economic development planning

The communities of Honey Harbour and MacTier have BR+E Plans.

Communication and Branding

The Township of Georgian Bay Mayor, Council and staff are committed to accurate, timely and transparent communications within our organization and with residents and stakeholders.

Master Plans and Design Guidelines

Each distinct community has a Master Plan with Design Guidelines. Viewed together, these plans act as strategic blueprints for community growth and help us assess development applications and proposals.
